The belt alignnent was the same for 58-67 and 68-76 but the design was very different. There is a regular version and an SFI version and they both come with the parts to use either way and they have the two different bolt patterns in them as well to accomodate early and late pulleys. Oh and a Bicycle - daily driver to save gas for the 'F'un 'E'xcursions.Ħ7 Galaxie FastbackWhen we designed the Pro Products balancer it was designed to work with the original 67 and older pulleys by using the single groove pulley it comes with and whatever bolt on pulleys you have or you remove the pulley (unlike originals that are part of the balancer), use the spacer it comes with, and use 68 and newer pulleys. What he is saying is if the engine has 68 or later accessories, then it all will line up fairly close with an aftermarket balancer just like the stock non grooved pulley.ġ967 390GT engine: 416 CID 233/238* 0.050 Solid Lifter w/ 4 spd TL.ġ966 410 engine, 1969 CJ heads, CJ cam, PI intake I'm at the point of just accepting i will always have manual steering.

The double crank pulley puts the front v-groove in front of all other grooves. crank, w\p and p\s rear belt and crank, w\p and alt, front belt all the aftermarket balancers will accept factory pulleys but the alignment is off.

factory balancers had a groove in them and a pulley mounted to that. Using a factory balancer.we don't use factory balancers, i can't, i need an sfi rated balancer and i personally don't like trusting a 30 plus year old balancer. the problem will be i won't be able to have two belts around the w\p,the crank, and p\s. or just modifying a bracket to make p\s bracket stick out farther. i'm considering blowing the wad and fabbing some sort of hydraulic pump with remote resevoir. So I need to get the correct two groove replacement pulley to go with this but have no idea what will work.Īm I screwed? I'd hate to get the engine built and find that my pulleys don't line up with the water pump, alt, PS and fan.looked through the forum for awhile but didn't see any threads that fit my problem.thanks much folks!Ħ7 Galaxie Fastbacki have the same problem, aftermarket dampner doesn't have integral v-groove and a two groove pulley won't allow proper p\s alignment, without alot of BS. The damper I pulled has two grooves, one is a bolt on pulley, the other is part of the damper itself. Dropping off the engine to be rebuilt next week. Need to know what pulley setup I need to have this work with my 67 Galaxie with PS. Could there bee another issue? I replaced the voltage regulator when I put a starter relay on it.Hey all, I bought this damper on ebay. Just curious of what you guys have to say. My very good friend who is a mechanic said all the internal parts are cheap these days. I primarily deal with Doug at Wilson's and The Bird nest, I'm just afraid I am going to get another crap alternator. The second guy got it charging, and had new parts on the shelf. I have paid to have it fixed twice, the first guy knew nothing about nothing. BTW, I have not had much luck with alternator shops around here. At this point I know the alternator has bad diodes, I had it rebuilt right at a year ago, they guy put a new rotor and stater in it. Now I'm thinking the battery was just low from being drawn on, it was very low then too when I put the charger on it. I had this problem a few weeks ago the battery just died while trying to crank it at my office, that's when I replaced the starter relay. I then pulled the alternator wire off the brand new starter relay, my test light went out. I began testing for draws, pulled all the fuses to no avail.

I put it on the charger and it was very low, the battery is a brand new group 27F. I went to take it out tonight and the battery was stone dead, it was sitting for a few days.
